From first site visit to the ministerial opening — every stage of the E108 Rail Terminal expansion, captured by drone and camera.
The E108 Rail Terminal expansion was a multi-million-pound infrastructure project that transformed intermodal rail capacity at the Port of Southampton. The expansion added 12 acres of operational space and extended the rail loading pad by 130 metres, increasing capacity from eight to 12 daily intermodal trains and enabling the terminal to handle up to 180,000 containers annually. Solent Stevedores commissioned us to capture the expansion as it was being worked on, and then, when it reached completion.

Pre-Production
Working closely with maritime PR specialist Hayley Griffiths, we planned regular visits to document every stage of the build. The principal contractor was Ryebridge Construction, who we've since worked with on several of their own projects.
SHOOT
Production
We produced 19 videos during the build, shooting and editing photos of every stage across a two-year period from 2022 to 2024. We had the fantastic opportunity to fly FPV drones in close proximity to moving freight trains: a unique and thrilling filming challenge!
POST
Post-Production
The 19 videos and comprehensive photo library were used for stakeholder updates, the ministerial opening by Rail Minister Huw Merriman, and ongoing promotional materials. Our extended finale video was shown at the official opening event. The content showcases large-scale rail infrastructure development within an active port environment.
