95 tonnes: drone video of heavy cargo lifting at Portico Shipping

In September 2019, we captured the move of some new 95-tonne fender spacer units from ML Ltd. through aerial photography and drone videos, with our friends and regular collaborators at Portico Shipping.

The units will ensure Portsmouth is ready to receive HMS Prince of Wales, which boasts a flight deck that’s 70 metres wide and 280 metres long — enough space for three football pitches! She also holds an impressive 45 days’ worth of food.

We used our DJI Inspire 2 with wide lenses and zoom lenses to shoot both a broader picture and a close-up perspective, perfectly showcasing the incredible scale of the operation.

Meanwhile, the Solent Sky Services ground crew filmed from a number of ideal vantage points at Portico’s facilities within Portsmouth International Port. We also affixed GoPros to cranes and other cargo-handling vehicles to strengthen the storytelling with intriguing and uniques points of view.

Regularly working with Portico has been highly rewarding! We’re honoured that our drone photography, videos, and aerial 360º visuals have been a core asset in their efforts to market themselves as a trusted supplier of a diverse and ever-growing range of cargo handling services.
