FPV Drones & Aerial Equipment
DJI Inspire 3 - RTK Package: A Pilot’s Powerhouse
Our industry-leading, cutting-edge, top-of-the-line beast. The DJI Inspire 3 allows us to capture aerial footage at up to 8K RAW quality on a full frame sensor — the kind of blisteringly sharp cinema-ready crispness your project deserves. It does everything: obstacle avoidance, object tracking, gnarly speeds, and 3D mapping for in-depth aerial surveys.
The DJI Inspire 3 enables us to repeat flights and camera moves with millimetre accuracy, perfect for those day to night sequences and specific requirements on set. The 3D dolly feature is spectacular and the improved FPV camera provides us with full screen options and a 161° field of view.
Interchangeable lenses afford effortless flexibility for all shooting scenarios. Our wide lenses snap picturesque landscapes, large properties, and huge festivals, with buttery-smooth stabilized perfection. Our zoom lenses capture close-up action, millimetres-accurate shots for surveys, and highly-detailed photos and videos of events. We do however frequently use our DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise RTK mapping projects.
FPV and Heavy-Lifting Cinelifters and Gimbal lifters for Cinema Grade FPV
When you fly FPV, you stream the drone camera’s view to a pair of virtual reality goggles — your eyes become the drone’s eyes!
The ‘Thicc’, created by Shen Drones, is a heavy lift drone with a top speed near 100mph. It weighs in at less than 3.5kg when fully loaded with a cinema camera, and flies with either the BMPCC6K or Red Komodo. It can also fly with lighter cameras such as the GoPro Hero 11 and our naked Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera weighing only 620g including the lens.
This drone, much like the Inspire 3, is made for those Hollywood movie projects — but with all the benefits of an FPV (first-person view) drone!
Along with our 5-inch freestyle quad, 3-inch cinewhoop, and naked GoPro-carrying tinywhoop, we’re equipped for every kind of FPV project.
Our gimbal drone carries a re-housed DJI Inspire 2 which is capable of shooting 6k Cinema DNG or Pro Res and enables dual operator dynamic flights.
Drone Accessories: Peak Performance
Accessories don’t just make for unmatched photo and video quality — they upgrade the whole experience, for us and our clients! Setting up multiple screens while on-location splits piloting and camera control duties across the SSS team, and gives the people we’re working with a chance to see the imagery we’re capturing for them, live.
We utilise the DJI Wireless Transmission Combo for client viewing and direction on set and this setup allows for wireless viewing too.
FPV (First-Person View) goggles take it a step further, putting our (or your!) eyes in the sky. We also have 360º cameras for outdoor panoramas or indoor tours, powerful remote controls for total creative control, and hefty battery collections for all-day flying. And we’re always adding exciting new gear to our range, forever staying ahead of the curve.
Zenmuse X9-8K Air: astonishing quality
The drone industry is moving forward at such breakneck speed, this ‘Equipment’ page almost always feels outdated the moment we change it! But it’s not just the Zenmuse X9 itself that’s important — it’s what it represents. It’s a cinema-grade camera in the sky, with zero compromise made for the sake of aerial use. It’s the definition of cutting-edge.
We have the full Zenmuse lens kit. For video, this means up to 8K CinemaDNG and Apple ProRes, with several quick-swap lenses of different focal lengths for varied environments and shooting styles. For photography, the X9 supports RAW photos up to 44.7 megapixels (8192 x 5456). Using this system, we capture everything from the highest-quality videos for social media to truly cinema-ready footage for film crews.
DJI Mini 3 Pro: feather-light and on a mission
The youngest of the DJI triplets. It’s just 249g — roughly the same weight as a couple of smartphones.
Being so feather-light means the DJI Mini 3 will slot nicely into a number of legacy categories under the new UK drone laws. Its small frame makes it ideal for indoor flight.
The DJI Mini 3 is a great choice for budget productions or quicker aerial surveys, particularly in congested areas. We personally carry one of ours with us wherever we go, as a second eye in the sky — brilliant for behind-the-scenes footage or eye-catchingly aerobatic shots.
We’ve got enough batteries to fly all day and we can charge onsite too.
DJI Mavic Pro 3 : the Aerial Athlete
The Inspire’s nimble little brother. Pocketable, lightweight, and less of a head-turner than the Inspire, this nifty bit of kit is ideal for flying in tighter indoor and outdoor spaces. It’s also perfect for capturing secondary angles. A zoom lens on the Inspire + a wide lens on the Mavic = a filmmaking match made in heaven.
It doesn’t stop there, the Mavic 3 Pro has 3 focal lengths to choose from 24mm, 70mm and 166m tele lens. This enables us to be at a greater distance from subjects and create more depth of field in the images.
Our Mavic really comes into its own for live social media coverage. While our Inspire 3 is capturing maximum-quality footage, we’ll work with the marketing teams at events and festivals to shoot and publish aerial visuals in real-time. Files can be transferred to phones/iPads in an instant, edited, and then shared online within minutes.
Cameras & Ground Gear
Ground Filmmaking
Whether it’s a head-and-shoulders interview that calls for little more than a tripod, some lavalier mics, and a basic lighting arrangement, or an all-stops-pulled action-packed shoot using DJI Ronin stabilizers, boom poles, and GoPros, we’re ready for it. We use Blackmagic and RED Cinema cameras, RØDE and DJI microphones, and all manner of other ground filming equipment to capture broadcast-ready visuals and social media-ready narratives. Strong video, sharp audio, and a superb story, every time.
Ground Photography
The pictures we capture at ground level complete the story our aerial visuals start telling. Our qualified photographers use a broad range of camera equipment, from optics-focused bodies which deliver the sharpest professional photos to weird obscure lenses that create authentically unique imagery to suit any brand’s vibe. Our studio spaces are as ready for professionally-lit editorials as we are for the unpredictable and exciting curveballs thrown our way by event shoots and live social media coverage.
Ground Specialities
360º cameras give us the power to showcase our clients’ physical locations on Google Maps, with interior tours uploaded to Street View offering unparalleled online access to shops and restaurants. Panoramic photos also pair perfectly with aerial mapping for property surveys. We also have camera mastpoles handy for when flying drones isn’t a viable option for aerial shooting, making roof inspections and bird’s-eye views possible with no complex paperwork or broken flight regulations!
Editing Software for Drone Videos & Photos
Polishing the Pigments
Once we’ve established a narrative for a project, we set about perfecting the finer details; everything from colour grading to audio mixing to 2D animation. LUT colour profiles in DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro are great starting points for toning the hues of RAW footage, Lightroom reigns for enhancing photos, and After Effects is our favorite for animated graphics.
Nailing the Narrative
At the heart of every creative project we pursue, there’s a story. Without a strong narrative, there’s little use for for any of it! We use a selection of organizing and editing tools from DaVinci and Adobe to edit videos and process photos. Apps like Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Resolve, and Rush are our choices for finding the purpose for every shoot.
Splicing for Social
With videos finalised and every photo ready for the world, we use Resolve, Premiere Pro, and (during live event coverage) Rush to craft videos of varying lengths and aspect ratios for social media. The digital marketing experts on the SSS team are always prepared to help clients publish the content we create — a perfect conclusion to every project!
