Beautiful B-roll drone video for Ozweld International

Salisbury-based steel fabricators Ozweld International recently called us up in the middle of the week requesting we shoot at their HQ that Friday, just a few days later. They weren’t 100% sure what they wanted, but knew they’d like us to fly our drones around a metal structure of some sort. We never turn down a mystery! With some last-minute schedule changes, we made Friday work, and headed to Salisbury.

We met the Ozweld crew and saw the structure — a steel-framed orangery – for the first time. “It’s being dismantled and sent off to the client who commissioned it in America tomorrow,” we were told. So we set about storyboarding then and there.

A minute-long promotional video capturing Ozweld’s production timeline evolved naturally, with beautiful B-roll footage and stylish organic transitions showcasing every step of the process from the first phone call to the finishing touches.

The ground footage looked incredible, but we wanted a ‘big finish’ reveal to really do justice to this new Ozweld International project.

We fired up the DJI Spark and took flight in Sports Mode, enabling complete manual control. This is key when flying within or near steel structures, as metal can interfere with drone sensors and signals.

Having storyboarded in the same place we were shooting, we had a clear vision of how certain in-camera movements would strengthen transitions during the editing process, making them feel natural rather than forced or tacked-on.

Some behind-the-scenes snaps:

The Ozweld team were impressed with the visuals we could show them on the day, and even more pleased with the final video!
