60,000,000 years in the making: Staggeringly Good Beer crowdfunding video

    Staggeringly Good Ltd.

    Helping a dinosaur-themed brewery crowdfund £302,810

Portsmouth-based brewery Staggeringly Good make beer for ‘people who love dinosaurs’. In 2018, they approached us to produce a video for their crowdfunding campaign. It had to incentivise their fans to invest in the brewery’s expansion, while capturing their unique brand of humour. And that’s how we found ourselves filming an American biker dude rolling around town on a beer-dispensing dinosaur fashioned from a mobility scooter.

    DINORIDER Crowdfunder Teaser

Much of the shooting for both the teaser video and the main crowdfunder film took place over two consecutive days, followed by four or five days spent editing. The teaser was an 80s-tinged production backed by some synthwave magic. It served as an initial announcement that the crowdfunding campaign would soon be launching, built up hype for the main video, and hinted at the 'TriceraTap' — the aforementioned beer-dispensing mobility scooter.

    TRICERATAP Crowdfunder Promo

Shooting the main video was incredibly fun. The first half features the TriceraTap riding past all the local independent businesses who Staggeringly Good have worked with over the years, culminating in an epic scene in which a brass band plays the Jurassic Park theme. All the while, key details from the crowdfunder campaign appear over the action. The second half of the video features the Staggeringly Good crew further explaining what investor money would fund, and what they'd get in return.

    A Jurassic success

Staggeringly Good raised £300,000, smashing past their crowdfunding goal. They're now investing all their efforts into realising their expansion plan. The video was viewed tens of thousands of times, and was an integral part of the campaign's success.
