Bonhams Motorcars put a 1976 Porsche rally car up for auction at Goodwood’s 2022 Members’ Meeting and asked us to capture a drone video to promote the vehicle.

The auctioneers at Bonhams Motorcars put a 1976 Porsche 911 Carrera rally car up for the bidding at the 79th Goodwood Members’ Meeting in 2022. Producer and precision driver Miles Lacey, who we previously worked with on a project for Praga in 2021, asked us to capture drone shots to promote the auction.

Pre-Production

Bonhams Motorcars were auctioning a 1976 Porsche 911 Carrera rally car at the 79th Goodwood Members’ Meeting. Producer and precision driver Miles Lacey — who we’d previously worked with on a Praga project — brought us on to capture FPV drone shots for the promotional film. It was our first time flying at Goodwood, having only filmed there on the ground before.

SHOOT

Production

We met the crew at Manor Farm and walked the track to scout locations and flag any risks. I flew our DJI Inspire while Tim operated the camera and Emmie kept eyes on the action. We pulled off some thrilling sequences — including a ‘joust’ shot with the Porsche flying straight at us — and even braved water for a dramatic puddle run. We finished the day at Goodwood with golden-hour tracking shots and some handheld work from a chase car.

POST

Post-Production

We handed over our drone footage to the production team and wrapped feeling proud of what we’d captured. The final video edit, cut by Miles, looked incredible — and the auction was a hit, with the Porsche soaring past £100,000 under the hammer!
