8 days, 2,100 tonnes: Southampton oil refinery expansion with DHL

Working closely with the Port of Southampton, we secured comprehensive filming permissions to give us unprecedented access in both restricted port areas and on board the cargo vessels themselves! This dual perspective, from ships and land, enabled us to capture the operation’s full scale and complexity. This was our second project with DHL at the Port of Southampton, so we had a strong working relationship and local knowledge already in place!

Over eight intensive days of shooting, our in-house crew captured every critical moment, including the arrival of massive cargo vessels at Southampton Port, and all of the precision engineering needed to offload and transport 400+ ton reactors to Fawley Refinery. The standout moments came during the heavy-lift operations! The sense of celebration and achievement when each major offload was completed successfully was beautifully human.

Our in-house post-production team handled video editing, colour grading, audio design, and motion graphics, including animated statistics, route maps, stakeholder logos, and data overlays. The extensive eight-day shoot resulted in a substantial content library for DHL, with potential for customised edits tailored to each project stakeholder: DHL, BigLift Shipping, Williams Shipping, Sarens, and, naturally, the Port of Southampton!
