Peter Ashley Activity Centre - Family fun day 1st July 2018!

Family fun day!

We met with the team over at the Peter Ashley Activity Centre back at Shaping Portsmouth and from the get go we were keen to do some work with them. Their centre is simply fantastic and hosts many facilities to cater for small or large groups or even solo visits.

We expressed interest in providing aerial imagery for the Family Fun Day and were kindly invited along to a meeting to discuss the days events and run through our flight plans.

When onsite we had to do some horse whispering to ensure we could fly safely and without causing any distress to our nearby friends.

You can find a short edit showcasing some of the footage we obtained at the bottom of this blog post.

The team over at the Activity Centre are friendly and it's always great to meet people who thoroughly enjoy what they do! They specialise in providing the following activities based from their sites:

Air Rifle Shooting, Archery, Assault Courses, Bush Craft, Bouldering, Initiative Tests, Laser Tag, Mountain Biking, Orienteering, Sports Activities, String trail!

They support local clubs, schools, offer bespoke packages and play a big part in the local community. They can provide a range of experiences from caravanning and camping to BBQ's and staying in residential accommodation.. again all on site!

Can you tell I'm excited about this venue?

The site can even be used as a venue for your wedding reception! The views from the site are stunning and the buildings certainly have character. They even have a network of tunnels we're keen to explore!

The forts themselves are simply fascinating, both Fort Widley and Fort Purbrook

 Fort Purbrook

Fort Purbrook

Fort Widley was built between 1860 and 1868 on the recommendation of the Royal Commission on the Defence of the United Kingdom. It was designed much like Fort Purbrook to protect Portsmouth from Attack from the rear!

Fort Purbrook was completed in 1870 and forms part of the line of forts on Portsdown Hill for the same purpose.

We're super excited to explore these forts in more detail over the coming months. You should be too!
