The Final Straw Solent and Surfers Against Sewage clean up Milton Beach October 2018

Everyone loves walking along the beach, but nobody likes walking along the beach covered with harmful and sometimes dangerous washed up litter. It’s amazing how much of a difference organisations like The Final Straw Solent and Surfers Against Sewage are making along with the help of local communities.

We paid them a visit during the clean to help support the good work they’re doing. As you will see it’s not just about cleaning the beaches, it’s about involving the community, education, and assisting our government in the battle against plastic. Appologies in advance for the audio, turns out our Micro Muff’s weren’t attached correctly during some of the clips.

Marine debris is having a devastating impact on our oceans worldwide. It's harmful to all marine life, causing injury, entanglement, and starvation when it's mistakenly ingested - all often with fatal consequences. To find out more about the problem we’re facing please read our previous blog on our Plastic Oceans and find out how we’re stronger together.

Thanks to everyone who got involved on the day and keep up the good work! Many thanks to Tim Debens for being drone camera operative and helping out with interviews.
